WHO WE ARE: Ilse at her post Located in Cliffside Village, a lovely community located on the spectacular Scarborough Bluffs, Earthsong Village (more than "just a store") was founded in 2006 by Ilse Lichtenberger, a retired teacher. Ilse had lived in the community since 1994, and saw a need for an alternative community-based space. From the beginning, Earthsong Village offered unique gifts and products not easily found in the area. Here you could buy a singing bowl, smudge, frankincense,mudcloth & kuba cloth, carved boxes, sustainable clothing, and jewellery of all kinds. Along with her interesting products, Ilse also hosted concerts, plays, and numerous presentations. Courses were offered in Yoga, Bellydance, Djembe Drumming, along with workshops in Modern Batik Art, Gemmology and more. Earthsong Village has become a Living Arts Centre,! WHAT WE DO: Belly Dance Class! We try to serve our little community by offering a large number of ethical products. We bring in artists who sing, play, and present visual art. Our space is available to local individuals who wish to present a seminar, studies in spirituality or anything of interest to the community. We participate in charitable works in the community, and also in Uganda (Lumu Kabasinde Foundation). Our ongoing courses in Yoga and Bellydancing are very well received, and we are still working on building a Djembe Drumming Course.
